How to Give
At Your Parish
Registered parishioners will receive a letter in the mail along with a personalized pledge envelope in early February. Blank pledge envelopes are available in the pews at the parish or in the parish literature racks. Please fill out the pledge envelope information and return it to your parish.
Online Giving
For the 2010 Appeal, we are continuing our online giving program. This is a quick and easy way to make your yearly donation. Please click here to make your donation now.
Via Mail
Your pledge envelope can be mailed directly to your parish or to:
Development and Stewardship Office

Saint Paul, MN 55102
Employer Matching Funds
It may be possible to double your gift to the Catholic Services Appeal through a matching gift. Many employers (and former employers, for retirees) match the charitable gifts of their employees.
Check with your employer’s Human Resources Department to see if they will match your charitable contribution. Complete their matching gift form (or fill one out online) and send it in along with your gift information:

Gifts of Stock
Transferring appreciated stock directly to the Catholic Services Appeal is both easy and tax-deductible.
Giving stock that you’ve held more than 12 months and that has appreciated (your stock now has greater value than your original cost) offers tax savings:
- You avoid paying capital gains tax on the increased value of your stock.
- You receive a charitable income tax deduction for the full fair market value of the stock on the date of the gift.
Please note: With stock that has appreciated in value, you must give/transfer the stock directly to the Catholic Services Appeal to realize these benefits. (If you sell the stock and give the proceeds to the Appeal, you will be responsible for paying a capital gains tax on the profit.)
How to Give Stock to the Catholic Services Appeal:
- Contact the Development and Stewardship Office in order to obtain our federal ID#, brokerage firm and DTC#, and account number.
- Provide your broker with the information above in order to transfer stock to the Catholic Services Appeal.
- Notify the Development and Stewardship Office (651-290-1610) when you have completed your request to your broker, in order to ensure the timely completion of your transaction.

Bequests
Each of us has a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to leave a legacy of faith and make a difference for future generations. If you would like to include the Catholic Services Appeal in your will, please use the following language in your will, trust, or beneficiary arrangement:
“I give $____________ (or ____% of the date of death value of my total estate) to The Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis for the benefit of the Catholic Services Appeal.”
Planned Giving
You can support the Church—the presence of Jesus Christ in the world—as part of your legacy, by making a planned gift.
To help donors, we have the locally-based Catholic Community Foundation, which is the nation’s largest community foundation serving Catholic philanthropy. The Catholic Community Foundation (CCF) can help you take advantage of the tax benefits of planned giving, simplify your giving, and leave a legacy for generations to come.
CCF offers donor advised funds, family endowments and life-income gifts such as charitable gift annuities and charitable remainder trusts.
In addition, CCF upholds your faith values by applying them to their business practices. They do this by:
- Screening investments. That is, they will not invest in companies whose business activities conflict with Church teaching (e.g. pornography, land mines, etc.)
- Screening grantees. In other words, CCF will not make grants to charities whose activities conflict with Church teaching – and will verify that the grantees are legitimate charities.
- Ensuring that endowed funds held at CCF will permanently support the mission of the Catholic Church, in solidarity with the Archbishop.
